It is always with a sense of anticipation that our iTeams NL office team prepare for our Access Weekends – our new worker orientation weekend. In May we held the first of three weekends that explore four key areas of missionary preparation: call, character, competence and compatibility.
First weekends are always interesting as they are the first time the group is together, the first time that some of us have met, and this year the first time in a new location. This first Access weekend was a fantastic time of getting to know each other, diving into who iTeams NL is as an organisation, and exploring topics including culture, spirituality, and our calling to mission.
The participants come from a variety of life and church backgrounds which added a good flavour to the learning sessions. Most had some previous mission and ministry experience which meant for lively discussion as they could relate to the material being taught.
The office team always goes into these weekends with an expectation that God will be present and at work in the lives of all the participants. For some there is a confirmation or clarification of their calling, for some there is some deeply personal work that God does in their lives, while for others it is a time of growth and equipping in mission. This weekend was no different.
The following two Access weekends will be held after summer in September and October and we look forward to all that God will continue to do.
