Our Approach
We believe that God so loved the world that God sent Jesus into the world, and that through his life, death, resurrection and ascension, reconciled all things to God’s own self (Colossians 1.20). We believe that reconciliation with God and transformation are made possible through a relationship with Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit. We also believe that the good news of Jesus and the kingdom of God can bring transformation, not only to us individually but to all of our broken relationships (Ephesians 2.16).
Transformation happens as people are increasingly reconciled and restored in their relationship with God, with themselves, with others, and with creation through Jesus, empowered by the Spirit. Reconciliation is an ongoing spiritual process involving forgiveness, repentance and justice that restores broken relationships and systems to reflect God's original intention for all creation to flourish. Transformation leads to a more flourishing life as we learn to live out of our identity (as children of God) and our vocation (as stewards of God’s creation).
As followers of Jesus we believe that we are invited by God to join in with God’s mission to reconcile and restore this relational brokenness (2 Corinthians 5.18-20).
Therefore, iTeams NL will work together with the local church, our workers, and partners to see people experience reconciliation with God through Jesus, experience wholeness as people, to be reconciled in relationship with others, and to work towards shalom in creation.
Our Vision – what we want to see
We want to see lives and communities transformed by the power of God.
Transformation Through Reconciliation
We work together with our workers, churches and partners towards the goal of transformation through reconciliation in these four relational spheres:
- God - a restored relationship with God, through Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit
- Self - a restored relationship in one’s own body, mind and spirit through renewal of our identity as children of God
- Others - restored, healthy, fruitful relationships and communities (between people, in marriages and families, between groups)
- World - a restored relationship with the world that empowers people to live and work out their vocation as stewards who are gifted and called by God to seek shalom in the world in their sphere of influence
