On Tuesday 26 November Albania was hit by a severe earthquake. 51 people died, more than 3000 injured, 8000 damaged buildings and more than 6000 homeless people.
iTeams Netherlands has a long history of over 34 years of service in Albania with involvement in numerous projects with various partner churches and organisations.
Due to the earthquake we are starting a disaster fund to support our partners where most help is needed. We are in close contact with our friends and ministry partners. Our Albanian Coordinator and his wife, Ton and Carla Vegt, flew to Albania and provided support to those who experienced the earthquake. Ton was also able to provide a debrief to one of the few Christian psychologist in Durres, as she is under significant pressure as she supports those traumatised by the earthquake.
Prayer Points
- Many are traumatized. Please pray that they may find inner healing and peace in God.
- The rebuilding of all houses. In addition, 4 churches will have to be rebuilt.
- For the right contacts and wisdom to be able to offer training and assistance in the coming months.
