In recent weeks the north of Argentina has been hit by substantial flooding.

Help the Argentine church support communities impacted by severe flooding in the north of Argentina.

The Amerindian communities to the north of Salta are in a dire situation due to the flooding of both the River Pilcomayo and Mermejo. These vulnerable communities are under water. Many have been evacuated, and some are completely isolated. People who already have little have been left with nothing.

Latin Link members Daniel and Flavia Lescano, and Hans and Priscilla Breekveldt, work with the Anglican Diocese in the of Northern Argentina, which has churches in these communities.

As a Diocese they have been responding in the first instance with provisions of daily funds so that local leaders can provide an olla comunitaria (community pot), and they are supporting 15 communities each day. Supplies are being transported by semi-inflatables, canoes, or even by people walking up to their necks in water. The daily cost of this at the moment is around £800.

Once the water has receded and people are able to return, or find a new place to settle, support will move to the next phase of helping these communities reestablish themselves. They will need spades and wheel barrows, large sheets of plastic, blankets, towels, clothing, food, pots and pans, etc.

Can you help the church support those impacted by these floods?
